I am very impressed with this photo essay. You did a great job capturing ordinary structures in an abstract way. Your use of different camera angles makes your photos interesting. You captured movement in the photo of the willow trees very well. You also used the rule of thirds very well in your photos. The interesting angles of the metro escalator and the memorial wall add mystery to your photos. You captured ordinary everyday views in an extraordinary way.
What strikes me most this essay is how you captivated the beauty of Washington, DC
through your take on the city. The lighting of the nature shots is really pretty. As for improvements, I would say to diversify what you take shots of more along with better angles in order to make it captivating. The theme of the city is pretty apparent as well. Overall, I enjoyed looking at your photo essay because of the style of the shots.
Great photo essay. The battle of man versus nature is a never ending struggle. I love the symmetrical balance of the shot with the path. Great perspective. I felt as though I was standing on that path looking at the woods which have such a creepy, untamed feeling in the picture. The metro shot is great and I love the angle and the reflection of your picture of the Vietnam War memorial. The weeping willows are gorgeous and the trees form an interesting geometric line in the shot with the Wash. monument. The lighting is very nice and your angles are second to none.
The theme is of natural beauty within a city was perfect for Washington, DC because there are so many aspects of the city that still have those natural elements. Each picture is interesting because they have a strong use of thirds and unique perspective. I found myself stopping to study each picture more closely to try and figure out where you were when you took each picture and how you would have angled the camera. I especially appreciate the last picture of the metro because even though everything shown is man-made is as the natural earth tones seen in the earlier pictures.
I think your essay is fantastic. The metro from inside the metro is truly great. Your nature shot are also quite good. You used an excellent approach with your angles and did quite a good job.
